Madhe ghat Waterfall

Madhe ghat Waterfall

Madhe ghat Waterfall Rappelling is very good for adventure freaks. You have to take a Little walk of 30 Minutes to Reach Waterfall. Getting down around 150 feet through a gushing waterfall is a really stunning experience… Rappelling is the controlled descent down a rock face using a rope. Madhe Trek gives immense pleasure of trekking in monsoon season.

Paradise on earth – Sahyadri

“If I could travel the world,
I would simply travel Sahyadri,
I have heard that there soil is sacred by the touch of feet of
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj…”

Being an Indian woman, I’ve been lucky enough to travel through some incredible tourist destinations in Maharashtra & other parts of India. Beautiful beaches in Konkan & Goa, the Ajanta Ellora caves, magnificent Rajasthan & many more. But I think, the Sahyadri range in western ghat of Maharashtra is different.
From my childhood, I am a great fan of historical books & characters. So, no doubt I am a great admirer of The king Shivaji. Every Indian is proud of the king Shivaji & his contribution towards the country.
Sahyadri was a backbone of Shivaji’s empire. It is a beautiful place to experience in the rainy season. So, in this monsoon, I decided to give it a try.
I along with my friends decided to visit Torna Rajgad, Lingana Fort & Madeghat waterfall. We booked Nandanvan Resort a week before in Velhe to stay. The resort is beautifully located in Velhe where we can easily connect with mother nature.
I love the minimalistic lifestyle & simplicity. The nice interior view of this resort won my heart. I recalled my childhood memories of my home in our native place in Konkan-Traditionally designed wooden architecture, simplicity in design & minimal furniture.

The atmosphere was very refreshing & calm. The staff at the resort was very friendly. Some of my friends requested them to make poha by themselves just to experience traditional cooking. The chief cook of the resort accepted our request & shared tips & tricks of his cooking.
My friends prepared poha for us. Fresh gavati chaha, self-made poha & the chatting with my lovely friends made my day. After our long long chatting, we finally planned to go out of our resort to watch the surrounding beauty of the resort. The resort is surrounded by amazing natural beauty which I was very eager to see. Being trapped in our robotic life, we always want to see these calm & soothing place- Greenery, river, tiny birds & the friendly localities…I had got a much-needed break !!!
It was raining for the whole day. I hadn’t seen such heavy rain in my lifetime. We reached our most awaited spot – Madeghat waterfall. We enjoyed the waterfall & took some nice pics.

Next day, early morning we went to Torna fort. Again it was raining very heavily.
Due to raining & low visibility, we couldn’t click the photos there. We even cancelled the plan of visiting other nearby places like – ‘Singapur chi nal’.
Finally, we returned back to our resort, took some rest & Chatting 😊
We were tired & so hungry. The cook in the Nandanvan Resort had planned the menu ‘Masale Vangi with Bhakari’ for the lunch. We couldn’t resist us to eat but somehow manage to take a nice picture of it.
We had experienced one of the most amazing & unexplored locations. We were the witness of some of the untold aspects of history. We were speechless just by imagining how the great Shivaji & his warriors managed to survive in this toughest part of Maharashtra.
At the end of the day, we started our journey to Pune by collecting endless memories. It was indeed a precious experience of me. This trip to Velhe was a memorable trip in my life.

Hidden Gem – Pasali Village, Velhe

Since we had planned in advance to visit the place, it became easier for us to discover the nearby serenity. We booked rooms for us at “Nandanvan resort” located at the Pasali village, a place 14 Km away from Velhe & Approximately 40 kms inside from Pune-Bangalore Highway (NH 4).  I decided to take my own car. We started from office on the 12th (Thursday) at about 6.00 am.

After an hour, we took a stop to a roadside waterfall after Velhe with some cranky music & a walk on red mud with friends dancing like crazy on the road. honestly, it looks so weird to me. 😛

We reached to Nandanvan Resort finally at about 10.00 am. It was time for some nice breakfast. I freshened myself & ordered delicious Poha with a nice tea (Gavati Chaha)  ..soothing effect to my almost crackling bones because of cold.

After breakfast, I got ready with my cellphone to shoot some very exciting moments. we came out to discover the River with the incomplete bridge exactly behind Nandanvan Resort. Honestly, I fell in love with it..  🙂 The place feels quite refreshing especially if you venture inside in the afternoon with a deep fog slowly settling in surrounding with rain showers.

In the afternoon, we geared up & moved towards the most awaited place – Madheghat via a poorly maintained road 5kms away from the resort with some twists (road expectations) & turns. The journey up into the Ghats was enchanting. There are some oohs and aahs after every turn to pay tribute to the delightful scenery. after 20 mins of journey & 2 mins walk, finally we reached the destination.
‘Mitti di Khushboo..’, Ayushmaan’s words ring in my head when the clouds make their customary appearance above us. So many small streams gushing down the mountains (or heaven I can say) and greenery all around was the only sight we could see.

The next morning (13th) was a lazy one. All the exhausted feelings about the previous day had vanished thanks to the whole night’s sleep & some wine.
There were only two points that we have managed to visit.
Point 1: Hills Behind Nandanvan resort
Beautiful gushing water interspersed with drizzling rains was what we saw when we landed at this lush green location, though I don’t remember the location name anymore. Some snaps and some video shooting followed by a meal of freshly roasted Bhakri with Pithale. Wow, this place was wonderful. It was made more wonderful by the drizzling rain.

Point 2: Madheghat
This was the second place that we visited. A big waterfall with many tourists enjoying there. This place too was characterized by gushing water everywhere and thick Fog and far off waterfalls. Fog rising against the mountain and water droplets sprinkling above due to the water going down the mountain made this place look like heaven. It looked like the places shown in mythological TV serials where Gods reside.  We make out our excitement due to jumping & seating into the water streams.

We could not visit Torna Fort due to rains & timing constraint. We decided to have some breathtaking volleyball matches & then return back to Pune during the afternoon. We reached back at about 8.30pm and then freshened up and slept after a warm bath & light meal.
This trip was a long pending one for us. We enjoyed each and every moment here… I would like to thank Mahesh, Sunil, Manisha & Monali for making this possible and memorable. Hope to have more such trips soon.

After having breakfast we decided to trek Torna Fort we left our resort at 8 in the morning and reached to Torna fort at 9.30 as the distance from Nandanvan Resort to Torna Fort is Just 18km, Which hardly required 2hrs to reach.

Torna Fort, also known as Prachandagad, is a large fort located in Pune district, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. This fort is believed to have been constructed by the Shaiva Panth, followers of the Hindu god Shiva, in the 13th century.
We started our trek From the base, it takes around 3 hours of trekking time. The trek route is pretty simple to follow but a bit difficult in the last few sections. After covering around 60% of the hike, the trek gets pretty steep and for safety, railings are installed on the edges of the trek path. On the route of trekking, you can see the locals’ setup small shops where you can get Kanda Bhaji / Pitla Bhakri and water bottles. We really enjoyed these adventures trekking and headed towards our resort.
